Job Description

Production Operator

List of Basic Duties

1. Maintain quality of product.
2. Perform all required quality control testing.
3. Check and accurately record all dimensions.
4. Perform hourly extrusion line dimensional and operational checks.
5. Visually check every piece of pipe produced for obvious defects.
6. Unitize all completed racks of pipe.
7. Basic troubleshooting of extrusion process.
8. Recognize and correct minor extrusion related problems.
9. Perform basic maintenance of extrusion line.
10. Perform basic corrective actions to maintain product quality (dimensional sizing, thick wall placement, bell dimensions, etc.).
11. Remove unitized products from production area.
12. Operate forklifts safely.
13. Clean and maintain extrusion line.
14. Discuss with outgoing operator any problems incurred during their shift.
15. Maintain acceptable first-through yield and downtime percentages.
16. Perform shutdown and startup procedures for size changes.
17. Notify Supervisor of problems beyond operator’s capacity to correct.
18. Adhere to all plant safety guidelines.

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly, with occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
• Install gaskets on pipe.
• Assist in banding of pipe during unitization.
• Flexibility to move shifts is required.
• Place finished pipe in racking station.
