Job description

The Production Manager, Direct Mail will support one of our enterprise clients and be responsible for all aspects of production, purchasing, data management, and execution. These tasks include recommending formats, improving processes and providing regular updates to the client stakeholders. This person will work with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure campaigns are purchased and executed in a way that ensures quality at a competitive price.

This is a fully remote position with occasional travel to the client site 3-4 times per year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather project requirements and manage all production aspects on behalf of the client, working with vendors on delivery timetables and maintaining updated statuses of assigned projects.
  • Input all project specifications and relevant data into an internal procurement system and maintain key data points in the system, including customer quotes, purchase orders and invoices.
  • Execute projects within contract-specified timelines, according to budget requirements and quality standards.
  • Build relationships and communication channels with clients to ensure smooth workflow and handoffs.
  • Liaise between internal and external stakeholders, agencies and suppliers to ensure quality and on-time delivery within budget.
  • Perform data segmentation, list manipulation and writing lettershop instructions for complex direct mail campaigns.
  • Manage project quoting and procurement of print and direct mail projects, including lettershop and postage optimization responsibilities.
  • Identify and develop programmatic solutions, which are both beneficial and economical.
  • Provide high-quality customer service, communicating to clients with appropriate and relevant status updates.
  • Assist Account Managers in compiling account and project updates for key presentations as directed.
  • Escalate production issues immediately to management.
  • Prepared to attend press checks with or without the client and ensure necessary subject matter experts are present to effectively manage process.

Knowledge, Skills + Experience

  • 3+ years of direct mail production experience, including offset and digital printing
  • 3+ years of mailing services experience, including lettershop, postal and mail logistics
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Proven success with purchasing in a manufacturing, client or agency environment
  • Experience independently managing multiple complex product-type categories
  • Demonstrated relationship building through client interfacing
  • Skilled in project management, planning, analysis, and problem solving
  • Experience negotiating job costs and schedules with suppliers and vendors
  • Able to work independently while still being a strong team contributor
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office software, specifically Excel
  • Demonstrated aptitude in learning new technology for application in a professional environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt across a wide range of business scenarios, including fast-paced environments

The US base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000 annually. Actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, certifications, and work location. This range may be different in different locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation for this package includes an annual performance bonus target.
