A leading packaging company in Portage, Indiana, is seeking a Production Supervisor for 2nd and 3rd shifts. The role includes ensuring operational efficiency, training staff, and adhering to ISO standards. Qualifications
Support and maintain all policies including but not limited to ISO and safety requirements.
Develop and maintain measures for Thermoforming and Extrusion operations.
Develop and review operations budgets with Site Director.
Evaluate financial implications of changes made in the operation.
Empower employees and develop continuous improvement philosophy throughout operations team.
Perform thorough root cause analysis and complete corrective actions on a timely basis.
Direct supervisor activities such as work assignments and shift assignments.
Optimize changeovers for minimal lost production.
Coordinate training of processing technicians and supervisors.
Consult with Human Resources and Site Director regarding transfer and discipline of employees.

Responsibilities

Obtain maximum efficiency through cycle time improvement, maintaining full cavitation, labor optimization and scrap reduction.
Work with scheduling personnel to optimize changeovers for minimal lost production.
Work with quality control to evaluate the disposition of product in concern.
Coordinate training of processing technicians and supervisors.
Assist maintenance and/or engineering with machine repairs.
Submit capital request to Site Director for manufacturing equipment.
Cover shifts as needed.
Complete accident investigation and forward accident reports to EH&S system.
Keep abreast of new technologies in the plastic industry.
Support inventory counting and review.
Organize the plant start up and shut down procedures, production equipment and alarms.
Interview, train and ensure employee performance.
Consult with Human Resources and Site Director regarding transfer and discipline of employees as it relates to company policy.
Supports compliance to ISO 900:2015 quality standards and all other applicable regulations that may apply.
Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe, quality food products that meet regulatory and company requirements. Support the development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the SQF systems.
Observes safety and security procedures, including maintaining confidentiality, using equipment/materials properly, reporting potentially unsafe conditions, and acting upon appropriate actions.
Supports company’s policies and procedures and conducts departmental and company activities in accordance with these policies.
