Job summary

Evonik in the United States seeks a seasoned Operations/Plant Manager to lead a significant production area and coordinate annual and long-range plans. You will forecast performance, develop business cases, and estimate resources to meet targets.

Lead safety, quality, and efficiency initiatives, drive monthly and annual production plans across multiple factories, and guide teams in implementing improvements while aligning with corporate strategy and values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or closely related manufacturing engineering/science degree.
  • Minimum of 8 years of previous plant experience.
  • Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short / medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
  • Applies expertise to act as the organizational authority on developing appropriate plans or performing necessary actions based on recommendations and requirements.
  • Uses expertise to act as organizational authority on planning, organizing, prioritizing and overseeing activities to efficiently meet business objectives.
  • Uses expertise to act as organizational authority on developing, monitoring, interpreting and understanding policies and procedures, while making sure they match organizational strategies and objectives.
  • Applies comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently while providing guidance and training to others on reviewing and creating relevant, lucid and effective reports.
  • Applies comprehensive knowledge to act independently while providing guidance and training to others on using clear and effective verbal communications skills to express ideas, request actions and formulate plans or policies.
  • Uses comprehensive knowledge and/or skills to act independently while guiding and training others on making sure the organization develops and maintains the culture, values and design it needs to reach its objectives while managing structural change.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a significant operational area for the organization.
  • Contribute to the development of annual and longer-term business plans; forecast performance against business key performance indicators; develop business cases for key activities/projects; and estimate the financial and human resources required to deliver performance targets.
  • Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
  • Monitor and review performance against HS&E KPIs, and patterns of behavior within the area of responsibility; Take action improve performance and to resolve non-compliance with the organization's HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions.
  • Develop monthly and annual production plans for multiple factories across the business with dependencies on other processes/units to include resource planning and monitoring and reporting on performance against the plan. Provide input to the overall production planning framework and systems.
  • Identify shortcomings in existing manufacturing processes, systems, and procedures; suggest and implement improvements; and develop and deliver larger improvement projects with guidance from senior colleagues.
