Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Production Manager, located in Cranston, RI. The Production Manager will oversee daily manufacturing operations, ensuring that production schedules are met efficiently and safely. Responsibilities include managing production teams and equipment, working to solve machinery downtime and failures, maintaining quality standards, coordinating resources, and implementing process improvements. The role also involves ensuring compliance with safety and efficiency protocols and collaborating with other departments to achieve production goals. This is a hands‑on role, working on the shop floor 80%, administrative work 20%, working with the team to resolve tooling problems, machinery issues and maintaining quality standards, while supervising a diverse staff of 20+.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct the production activities to meet quality and schedule requirements while meeting or exceeding internal productivity standards. Work with staff to direct set-ups and drive which equipment should be utilized to manufacture components. Solves or assists in solving immediate high-priority issues related to manufacturing output, quality, tooling, and process.
  • Oversees and understands the repair and routine maintenance of all production equipment and ensures that all preventative maintenance is being performed in a thorough and timely fashion. Troubleshoots and qualifies downtime issues, assists to repair machinery, supports mechanics in resolving repair issues.
  • Responsible for workplace safety and employee conformance to all safety standards. Provide a clean and safe work environment.
  • Leads and/or actively participates in root cause analysis and corrective action activities for production-related non-conformities.
  • Monitors production labor costs, manufacturing expenses, and finished goods inventory to ensure conformance with budgeted amounts.
  • Maintain individual skills keeping up to date with latest production, safety, lean manufacturing and company "best practices". Implements lean manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports the company’s strategic initiatives of continuous improvement.
  • Works in conjunction with Warehouse management to ensure that completed product is efficiently moved to the Shipping department and it is shipped on-time. Coordinate product flow with Secondary Operations Manager and QA department.
  • Responsible for training of new employees and onboarding activities of new employees in assigned production areas. Coaches and mentors staff, develops individual talent. Works with the Human Resources Department on personnel matters and decisions on staffing levels, overtime requirements; participates in new hire interview process for all production positions and completes performance reviews for existing employees.
  • Communicates and interacts with engineers, supervisors, leads, mechanics, electricians, operators, and other production-support personnel in order to successfully accomplish setobjectives in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost; such metrics would include, but not be limited to, accident occurrences, on-time delivery, past due·. amounts, finished goods inventory, and direct labor variances.
  • Insure conformance to ISO standards

Salary range: $85,000-$100,000 based on experience

Qualifications

12 years of experience within manufacturing work environment, preferably precision manufacturing

5 years of previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a manufacturing or production environment is required

  • Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills to effectively lead and coordinate workforce activities.
  • Experience with quality assurance processes (ISO) and maintaining product standards.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to manage the performance of manufacturing/production team with up to 30 personnel including employee/team building/development, mentoring and engagement, while maintaining a high level of ethical behavior and positive, professional work environment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, ability to identify and prevent technical risk issues, ability to build rapport with technical staff, leadership and peers, and ability to diagnose mechanical issues

Ability to work legally in the US

Ability to commute daily to Cranston, RI

Preferred Requirements:
  • 4 year degree in Engineering, Technical, Manufacturing or similar discipline
  • Production planning and management skills, with the ability to ensure timely delivery of products
  • Familiarity with zinc die casting or similar manufacturing processes is a plus
  • Educational background in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field
