We're hiring a Production Manager in Chester, VA

Salary: $75,000 - $80,000/year + Bonus

Key Job Responsibilities

Coordinate the plant production process to optimize resource use, meet or exceed goals. Lead on the production floor to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency. Schedule production, oversee the cut and assembly processes, and ensure customer expectations are met.

Duties and Requirements
  • Schedule plant production and oversee the cut and assembly process
  • Communicate with departments to meet delivery expectations
  • Prepare shipping documents
  • Perform monthly inventory counts and resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure departments follow Job Instruction Breakdowns, Quality Specifications, and SOPs
  • Participate in hiring, employee selection, and training
  • Lead, motivate, and communicate departmental expectations
  • Provide team leadership aligned with company vision and mission
  • Ensure policies are followed; provide guidance and discipline
  • Utilize resources effectively to achieve goals
  • Set individual goals, conduct performance reviews
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work environment
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, Lean, and Six Sigma
  • Perform other duties as directed by Plant Manager
Qualifications, Education & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience; lumber experience preferred
  • Experience in material flow, inventory management, process analysis
  • Six Sigma training is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP or production scheduling systems
  • Successful project management record
  • Strong communication and team-building skills
  • Management style compatible with company culture
  • Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving skills
Physical Demands

Stand, sit, kneel, handle objects, reach, stoop, crouch, and lift up to 100 pounds occasionally. Use of vision and repetitive motions required.

Work Environment

Part indoor/outdoor with moderate to high noise levels; PPE required. Exposure to weather conditions possible.
