Production Lead - Lincoln, NE

The Production Lead oversees daily production activities while working hands-on alongside the team. This role coordinates work assignments, supports line setup and changeovers, monitors product quality, and ensures compliance with food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices. The Production Lead trains and guides team members, communicates issues to leadership, and contributes to continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

Responsibilities
  • Lead by example on the production floor by performing production tasks alongside team members.
  • Coordinate daily work assignments to align with production schedules, priorities, and output targets.
  • Assist with production line setup, product changeovers, and startup activities to ensure smooth operations.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the shift and verify that all specifications and standards are consistently followed.
  • Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety procedures, sanitation requirements, and company policies.
  • Train new employees on production procedures, safety practices, equipment use, and quality expectations.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and support to production team members during the shift.
  • Communicate production issues, supply shortages, equipment concerns, and quality deviations promptly to management.
  • Assist with troubleshooting minor production and process issues to minimize downtime and maintain flow.
  • Complete required production records and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in all production areas.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, improve workflow, and reduce waste across the production line.
  • Operate production machinery and equipment as needed and ensure proper use of hand tools and other devices.
  • Participate in inspection and packaging activities to ensure finished products meet quality and safety standards.
  • Oversee general labor and assembly tasks to keep the production line running smoothly.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by following and reinforcing safety guidelines and practices.
  • Coordinate with forklift operators and other material handling personnel to ensure timely supply of materials to the line.
Skills
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing, food production, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with general production, machine operation, and production line activities.
  • Knowledge of food production processes, GMPs, and food safety procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise or lead production teams and support team management.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate work and convey instructions.
  • Solid teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across production and support functions.
  • Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions, and production schedules accurately.
  • Basic math skills to support measurements, counts, and production calculations.
  • Accurate recordkeeping skills for documenting production data and quality checks.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of safety practices and ability to promote a safe work culture.
  • Ability to use hand tools and operate production equipment and mixers.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
