Job summary

Socket.dev in Illinois seeks an experienced Industrial Engineer to optimize layout planning and production coordination for packaging operations.

You will review orders, organize layouts by quantities, and prepare tools for next-day assembly, ensuring seamless production flow and adherence to lean principles.

Collaborate with vendors and die shops, create detailed drawings, and drive process improvements across the manufacturing cycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related field.
• 5 years' experience in layout assembly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
• Proven experience in production layout design and process optimization, preferably in packaging.
• Proficient in CAD software and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Review daily orders for quantity, material type, and gauge; flag discrepancies.
• Plan layouts to optimize production efficiency and simplicity.
• Prepare layouts and pull tools for next-day assembly.
• Coordinate with die and mold shops to communicate programs.
• Create full-scale 3D and table drawings for production planning.
• Collaborate with production to schedule jobs and ensure material readiness.
• Assist with issue resolution in assembly or die shop as needed.
• Monitor material needs (plastic, die boards, aluminum) to prevent downtime.
• Design and print secondary tool assists using a 3D printer when required.
• Schedule 3D printer use to ensure availability for assembly.
