Job summary

Ramp is seeking a backend engineer to design and scale the infrastructure powering our procurement-to-pay and payments systems. You will work on core P2P components, ensure auditability, and enable AI-driven automation across the platform.

You will collaborate with Product, Finance, and Data teams to translate accounting rules into robust, scalable code, focusing on reliability and precision as Ramp expands globally.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend engineering in fintech or transactional systems.
• Design and maintain data-intensive distributed systems with auditability.
• Deep knowledge of Python or similar backend languages and SQL.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and scalable systems.
• Strong system design and debugging skills; translate business rules into code.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core P2P systems from invoice ingestion to payment orchestration.
• Enable AI agents to classify, validate, and process invoices automatically.
• Own backend services processing large volumes of financial events.
• Collaborate with Product, Finance, and Data to implement policies in code.
• Extend ledger to handle new transaction types and international payments.
• Improve reliability, observability, and data integrity across systems.
• Enhance internal APIs and P2P data accessibility across Ramp.
