Job summary

Campfire is seeking an engineer to take CEO-generated PRs to production, ensuring each change is correct within a live general ledger. You’ll work closely with leadership and customers to translate conversations into solid features.

You will add tests, types, and error handling, fix N+1 queries, and ensure safe migrations. The role requires strong Python/Django experience and a practical, high-candor approach to shipping.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of shipping production Python with Django, Postgres and Celery.
• Experience reading and reviewing large AI-generated diffs quickly.
• Able to reconstruct intent from incomplete specs and ask clarifying questions.
• Low ego with candor; comfortable pushing back on the CEO's code.
• Ability to patch, rewrite or drop changes to ship safely.

Responsibilities

• Triage every CEO PR and decide whether to ship with fixes, rebuild, split, or push back.
• Make code production-grade with type safety, tests, and proper error handling.
• Ensure ledger integrity by avoiding postings to closed periods and validating models and migrations.
• Enforce auditing, permissions, and sandboxed integrations before production.
• Keep AI features honest with token tracking and spend limits.
• Guard reliability by routing errors through established Sentry conventions.
• Close the loop by addressing root causes with better scaffolding and conventions.
