Job summary

vibehackers Forward Deployed Engineer role to work directly with the Office of the CEO, turning AI-assisted PRs into production-quality features for an AI-native ERP in financial operations.

You will own triage, migrations, tests, and reviews to protect the ledger and ensure safe deployments while enforcing audit and sandbox rules. 4+ years of Python production experience and Django/Postgres mastery are required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years shipping production Python code.
• Strong experience with Django, Postgres, and Celery is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with TypeScript and React is a plus.
• Excellent code review instincts and the ability to read large AI-generated diffs and identify production risks.
• Good judgment about when to patch, rewrite, or delete code.

Responsibilities

• Triage every CEO PR: read diffs, infer intent, and decide whether to ship with fixes, rebuild, split, or reject.
• Make changes production-grade: add types, tests, error handling, fix N+1 queries, and align with existing code patterns.
• Generate and vet migrations to ensure safe deployments.
• Protect the ledger: enforce closed-period rules, validate model attributes, and respect approval/audit flows and sandbox integrations.
• Keep AI features honest: add token tracking and spend-limit enforcement for LLM calls.
• Maintain reliability: errors follow Sentry conventions, failures report once, and customer-visible issues are surfaced appropriately.
• Close systemic gaps: improve scaffolding, repo conventions, or tooling when the CEO repeats mistakes.
• Communicate clearly and push back when features should not ship.

Forward Deployed Engineer reporting into the Office of the CEO. You will take prototype PRs authored by the CEO (often generated with AI coding tools) and drive them into production-quality features on an AI-native ERP for financial operations.

Requirements

• 4+ years shipping production Python code.
• Strong experience with Django, Postgres, and Celery is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with TypeScript and React is a plus.
• Excellent code review instincts and the ability to read large AI-generated diffs and identify production risks.
• Good judgment about when to patch, rewrite, or delete code.
• Ability to reconstruct intent from incomplete specs and ask clarifying questions.
• Low ego, high candor, and the ability to push back on senior stakeholders.
• Ability to work quickly to keep up with a fast stream of PRs.

Nice to Have

• Accounting fluency (double-entry, accruals, ASC 606, month-end close).
• Deep experience with AI coding tools and understanding their failure modes.
• Experience with financial integrations (Plaid, Ramp, Brex, Stripe, payroll providers).
• Early-stage startup experience.

Compensation

• $140,000 - $165,000 (listed range)
