Job summary

Amarr in Lawrence, KS is seeking a Production Coordinator to join our manufacturing team. You will oversee line operations, coordinate staffing, and ensure materials and equipment are ready to meet scheduled demand.

This role requires hands-on leadership, training new hires, maintaining accurate records, and enforcing safety and quality standards on the shop floor. Candidates should have strong communication, organizational and analytical skills, and be prepared to obtain a forklift license

Job Summary

We are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Production Coordinator in our Lawrence, KS location.

A Production Coordinator coordinates and provides the training, tools and materials to meet scheduled customer demand for one or more production areas of responsibility. All of this must be done within the prescribed policies and procedures of the company.

Shift

Sunday through Tuesday 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM CST and every other Saturday at the same start time.

Essential Accountabilities
  • Coordinates with Supervisor in assigning work to meet on-time production and quality goals. This includes but not limited to staging, trailer availability, staffing, etc.
  • Controls the workflow within the area of responsibility to meet efficiency targets, minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Requires the ability to train people and serve as a coach to Team Members. Performs On-the-job training and line and production orientation for new hires.
  • Records accurate data on production, labor, team members, and scrap on a timely basis. Follows up with team members on accurate production reporting. Completes shift paperwork.
  • Ensures accuracy of inventory and inventory management.
  • Required to ensure all purchased and manufactured material are available when needed to meet production goals.
  • Works with Maintenance and Manufacturing personnel to provide information on matters relative to machine downtime.
  • Ensures safety best practices are followed by Team Members at all times.
  • Ensures all quality standards for the production area are being met.
  • Performs Quality Checks.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, have the ability to articulate ideas, and point out areas where improvement is needed, as well as the ability to develop a positive relationship with employees in order to develop credibility.
  • Must be results-oriented and have the ability to motivate others.
  • Required to fill in for Department Supervisor in their absence.
  • Required to obtain and maintain a forklift license.
  • Maintains security of buildings, grounds, equipment, materials, and personnel.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned.

  • Leads by example with excellent attendance, influential interpersonal skills and high desire to succeed for the customer.
  • Facilitates on-the-job training for all new and existing team members for job certifications and performance evaluations.
  • Ensures the quality and accuracy of products and timely completion of schedules.
  • Maintains an efficient workforce in accordance with job requirements, work levels and schedules, manpower requirements and training programs.
  • Ensures the appropriate use of safety devices and equipment, general housekeeping, and maintains a constant vigilance for hazardous conditions and practices. Ensures a clean and safe work area.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 45 lbs. unassisted with or without reasonable accommodation, continuously and frequently overhead. Lifting of more than 45 lbs requires team lifting of at least 2 people.
  • Frequently required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects ranging from 45 lbs to 80 lbs. Weights over 45 lbs require teamwork of at least 2 people.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time (8-12 hours daily).
  • Must be able to move about the manufacturing floor safely and efficiently.
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs and/or ladders may be required for specific work tasks.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require using hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to work in loud, fast paced industrial environment.
  • Manual dexterity and hand to eye coordination with hand/power tools.
  • Frequent use of computer, keyboard, tablet, and/or scanner may be required for specific work tasks.
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold environments.
Minimum Qualifications Required
  • Must be capable of communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Possess efficient and productive organizational, time management and analytical skills.
  • Possess mechanical competence and knowledge and use of safety conscious practices.
  • Knowledge and experience in manufacturing and inventory management.
  • Must obtain a forklift license and certification within 45 days from hire date.
  • Must pass the Qualification forklift exam prior to interview (internal candidates only).
