Job summary

Valmont Industries in Elkhart, Indiana is seeking an experienced Scheduler/Operations Planner to lead scheduling and material requirements forecasting. The role coordinates across production control, manufacturing, sales, and logistics to ensure on-time delivery and optimal production flow.

You will develop master production schedules, monitor backlogs, and drive continuous productivity improvements while aligning with divisional goals.

Qualifications

• Preferred bachelor’s degree with 5+ years relevant experience or associate’s degree with 7+ years relevant experience or 9+ years of relevant experience
• Five years of experience in scheduling, purchasing or a related role
• Experience with Materials Resource Planning (MRP) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning Systems
• A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
• Previous experience in scheduling or operations planning
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional business objectives
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
• The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
• The ability to effectively interpret and present information both one-on-one and in front of an audience
• The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment

Responsibilities

• Direct departmental activities to meet or exceed profit objectives
• Develops and manages the shipping and material requirements forecast that is used to meet site production plan
• Includes developing the master production schedule, long-range material requirements plan, and the long and short-range capacity plans
• Manages the scheduling of incoming customer sales orders while monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on both the actual and forecasted customer backlogs
• Monitors and coordinates all activities between production control, manufacturing, commercial channel, traffic, and shipping and provides as a liaison between sales and production control on schedule changes and special handling of critical sales orders
• Manages and directs all activities of the scheduler and dispatch functions including the preparation and coordination of the shop floor schedules
• Monitors employee performance to ensure safety policies and procedures are followed
• Defines expected production standards, and monitors performance standards of the assigned personnel
• Ensures integrity of production schedule
• Promotes continuous productivity improvement
• Administers and supports company policies and procedures fairly
• Trains new employees on divisional and organizational activities and safety policies and procedures
• Prepares daily time sheets for hourly employees, production summaries, overtime and downtime reports
• All other duties assigned
