Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM seeks a Production Control Specialist to manage inventory, material readiness, and production control for high-explosive and inert materials used in R&D and testing operations.

The role involves collaborating with operations, safety, security, quality, and material management to ensure materials and equipment are received, tracked, stored, issued, returned, reconciled, and documented per procedures.

Qualifications

• Reliable and detail-oriented with ability to follow approved procedures in a controlled work environment.
• Knowledge of inventory control, material management, logistics, warehousing, procurement support, or operations support.
• Ability to assist with receiving, labeling, storing, staging, issuing, returning, reconciling, and dispositioning materials.
• Learn accountability practices for high explosives, classified matter, controlled components, inert inventory, consumables, spare parts, test assets, and M&TE.
• Support inventory records, transaction logs, cycle counts, physical inventories, shelf-life tracking, and M&TE status checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide material management and operations support in a controlled environment following institutional requirements.
• Maintain accountability of high explosives, classified matter, controlled components, test assets, consumables, spare parts, inert inventory, and M&TE.
• Manage receipt, verification, labeling, storage, staging, issuance, return, transfer, and disposition per procedures.
• Perform cycle counts and physical inventories; track shelf-life, lot, and serial numbers; ensure M&TE calibration status and control.
• Use production, inventory, database and planning systems to maintain auditable records for M&TE and materials.
• Coordinate with operations, safety, security, quality, and programmatic teams to ensure material availability for missions.
• Prepare and retain inventory records, forms, transaction logs, work-control documents, configuration and quality records, and M&TE control docs.
• Maintain safe, secure, compliant storage areas involving high explosives, hazardous materials, classified matter, and calibrated/non-calibrated M&TE.
• Keep storage areas orderly, segregated, and compliant; manage waste or excess materials as needed.
• Exercise Stop Work authority to address safety, security, or compliance concerns.
