Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Production Chemist to oversee synthesis and formulation of specialty chemicals at the George facility. You will ensure quality, safety, and efficiency, coordinating with R&D on scale-up from lab to pilot plant.

The role requires a BSc/MSc in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, 4+ years in production, GMP/ISO knowledge, strong leadership, and hands-on experience with synthesis and analytical techniques. Competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of production/manufacturing experience in the specialty chemicals sector.
• Hands-on experience with chemical synthesis and analytical techniques.
• Knowledge of GMP and ISO quality standards.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage production teams effectively in George.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise daily chemical production operations, ensuring adherence to schedules and quality standards.
• Oversee the safe handling, storage, and disposal of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures throughout the production cycle.
• Collaborate with R&D scientists on the scale-up of new chemical products and processes from laboratory to pilot plant and full-scale production.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions to maintain process continuity and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
