Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems in San Diego is seeking a Production Assembler I to build, align, and test fabricated parts following established procedures.

The role requires a High School Diploma/GED and 0–3 years’ experience; training provided. You will work with hand and power tools, maintain records, and may lift up to 45 pounds on site.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 0–3 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Preferred vocational/technical training in related field.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains assembly stations to assemble, align, and adjust parts according to specifications.
• Uses hand and power tools to assemble units on the line.
• Tests and calibrates parts to ensure tolerances and quality standards are met.
• May repair or refit parts that fail tests or tolerance levels.
• Keeps daily assembly production records and maintains a clean work environment.

Essential Functions

• Operates and maintains stations to assemble, align, and adjust fabricated parts, components, or units according to specifications and follows established manufacturing procedures.
• Uses hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing assembly line equipment to assemble units.
• Tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to ensure all components meet tolerances, product specifications, and quality standards.
• May repair or refit parts or units that fail tests or tolerance levels.
• Keeps daily assembly production records.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment.

Required Qualifications

• Required education and experience: High School Diploma/GED required and 0-3 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
• Other: Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree
• Knowledge, skills & abilities: Assembly. Calibration. Component installation. Soldering. Troubleshooting. Functional testing. Ability to understand and follow directions. Ability to lift/move heavy objects. Physical stamina.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
• May need to stand for long periods of time.
• Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
• May be requested to work a different shift.
• This position is Safety-Sensitive.

Travel Requirements:

Pay Range (USD)

Min $35,700.00/Annu. - Max $48,300.00/Annu.
