Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is seeking an Engineering Technician Lead to join our Manufacturing Engineering team in Camden, AR. You will support engineers, set up equipment, test products, and help drive improvements across processes.

The role requires 5–7 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with strong CAE/CAD knowledge and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Vocational/Technical Training Degree with 5–7 years of related experience or equivalent combined education and experience.
  • Associate's Degree preferred with strong technical training background.
  • Technical expertise, ability to follow directions, design capability, math skills, and CAE software knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers and scientists to create, modify, and test products and processes.
  • Set up equipment and monitor tests and experiments.
  • Inspect products for flaws and identify improvements.
  • Collect data, observe results, and prepare summaries and reports.
  • Provide engineering support on projects.

  • Requires full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience
  • Completes a variety of atypical assignments
  • Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments
  • Works with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments
  • Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience
  • Performs manual tasks according to established procedures
Essential Functions
  • Assists engineers and scientists as they create, modify, and test products and processes.
  • Supports with technical tasks and project support.
  • Sets up equipment and monitors tests and experiments.
  • Inspects products and processes for flaws and identifies areas of improvement.
  • Observes results, collects data, and compiles summaries and reports.
  • Performs extensive research and development during creation phase of product.
  • Utilizes computer-aided design and drafting equipment during design phase.
  • Supports less experienced colleagues with engineering support tasks and projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 5-7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise. Ability to understand and follow directions. Design expertise. Mathematical skills. Engineering Support. Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Software.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be requested to work a different shift.
  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • This position is Safety-Sensitive.
Travel Requirements:
