General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems in San Diego seeks a Machinist II to assemble, repair, and fabricate parts by operating mechanical equipment. The role requires reading blueprints, selecting and using appropriate tools, and maintaining equipment to ensure quality and accuracy.

You will utilize precision measuring instruments to verify tolerances and contribute to safe, efficient manufacturing. Training and experience in GD&T and machining are preferred.

Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical Training Degree with 1–2 years of experience or equivalent.
• Equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Essential Functions

• Assembles, repairs, and fabricates parts or components for tools or machines by operating mechanical equipment.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to determine the precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels of the finished product.
• Selects and operates the appropriate tools to cut, shape, or finish metal, plastic, or composite material.
• Sets up, services, and maintains equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation.
• Utilizes precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy and quality of machined parts.
• Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units as necessary.

Required Qualifications

• Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 1-2 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree
• Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred

• May be requested to work a different shift.
• Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
• This position is Safety-Sensitive.

Travel Requirements
