Job summary

OJ Digital is a fast-growing AI company in New York seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join its local team. The role blends hands-on platform engineering with direct exposure to major financial services clients, owning projects from problem definition through deployment.

You will design, build and deploy production AI systems, turning ambiguous customer problems into scalable, reusable components within the core platform.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• Excellent Python fundamentals and strong backend engineering skills.
• Hands-on experience building with LLMs, AI APIs or AI-powered workflows.
• Strong understanding of modern AI tooling and the current LLM ecosystem.
• Experience owning and delivering projects independently.
• Strong systems thinking and an ability to design reusable components rather than one-off solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with customers.
• Strong academic background in computer science, mathematics, engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Able to work from the SoHo office 4-5 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship multi-agent and LLM-powered workflows used in production
• Design and develop scalable Python-based platform components
• Own technical projects end-to-end, from initial concept through deployment
• Turn complex customer workflows into reusable platform primitives and patterns
• Work directly with customers to understand technical requirements and solve problems
• Collaborate with forward-deployed engineers on customer implementations
• Present technical solutions and capabilities to sophisticated financial services clients
• Contribute to the architecture and evolution of the core AI platform
