Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) in Boston, MA seeks a seasoned Product Owner/Business Systems Analyst for program onboarding. You will lead data-driven onboarding, coordinate across IT, Operations, Claims, Underwriting, Finance and Analytics, and drive scalable processes.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in product ownership or business analysis within insurance, strong data mapping skills, and proficiency in SQL and agile tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Insurance/Risk Management, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or equivalent in financial services or insurance.
• 5+ years in (Re)insurance across US Property & Casualty, International Markets, or Life, Accident & Health segments.
• Experience with program/delegated authority business, including familiarity with Bordereau reports (premium, claims, exposure).
• Proven experience coordinating across IT, Operations, Underwriting, Claims, and Finance.
• Experience negotiating and managing data requirements with external partners (Brokers, MGAs, Coverholders, or TPAs).
• Strong ability to influence and work effectively across a global organization at all levels.
• Hands-on experience with UAT/acceptance testing — writing test cases, executing tests, and managing defect resolution.
• Working knowledge of SQL or equivalent query tools for data validation and analysis.
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid SDLC methodologies and tooling (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps).

Responsibilities

• Serve as theProduct Owner/BSA for program onboarding — develop deep understanding of BHSI applications and associated data.
• Act asprimaryliaison across BHSI IT, Operations, Claims, Underwriting, Finance, and Data & Analytics to align requirements and coordinate delivery.
• Facilitaterequirementsworkshops, design sessions, and status meetings across stakeholder groups.
• Manage cross-workstream dependencies, risks, and issues; escalate proactively when needed.
• Negotiate and gather required policy, premium, claims, and risk exposure data from Brokers, MGAs, Coverholders, or TPAs.
• Collaborate with internal BHSI teams to develop insights, analytics, and reports to identify portfolio trends and risks.
• Define data standards, mapping rules, and validation criteria with cross-functional teams.
• Analyze and map data to verify accuracy and completeness; identify duplicates or missing information.
• Validate data quality throughout onboarding and drive timely resolution.
• Work with data engineering teams to integrate data into BHSI platforms.
