Job summary

Dow seeks a Counsel in its Litigation group to manage Dow and affiliates’ litigation, including asbestos personal injury and other product liability matters. Preferred location is Midland, MI, but Houston, TX will also be considered. You will provide legal counsel, review and draft documents, and manage external counsel.

Domestic relocation assistance is available; travel up to 25% may be required. US work authorization and a JD/LLM with 7+ years of practice are required; visa sponsorship is not

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor or Master of Laws required.
• Minimum of 7 years practicing as an attorney.
• Admission to State Bar or eligible for admission.
• Willing and able to travel up to 25% annually.
• U.S. work authorization is required; no visa sponsorship provided.

Responsibilities

• Independently provide legal counsel to clients.
• Provide client legal training and education on topics.
• Review and draft legal documents.
• Actively manage external counsel and experts.
• Collaborate with internal legal subject matter experts and other Company resources.
• Oversee paralegals and staff in the Legal Department and coordinate with business clients.
• Establish and monitor expense budgets.
• Set strategic direction for each case and docket.
• Develop and implement settlement strategies.
• Communicate with Legal Department management and clients.
• Participate in key depositions, hearings and trials.
• Oversee appellate issues.
