Job summary

AppFolio is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel, Product to partner with Product and Engineering from ideation through launch, translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable product needs.

You will develop scalable legal playbooks, draft user terms, negotiate high-stakes vendor and partner agreements, and provide practical guidance on data flows, API integrations, and product risk.

Qualifications

• JD degree from ABA-accredited law school and active U.S. state bar.
• 5+ years of sophisticated legal experience focused on product counseling within a U.S. technology or SaaS environment.
• Significant experience in heavily regulated U.S. industries (e.g., FinTech, tenant screening, B2C).
• Willingness to adapt to shifting Legal team priorities and evolving organizational needs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key legal advisor to Product and Engineering from ideation through launch and beyond.
• Translate regulatory requirements into actionable product requirements and playbooks.
• Develop internal playbooks and product-specific user terms to scale the Legal team.
• Negotiate high-stakes vendor and partner agreements to power products.
• Provide guidance on data flows and API integrations and assess product risk.
