Job summary

Demco, Inc. is seeking a Product Engineer to lead the engineering phase of new product development from concept to production.

You will translate concepts into detailed designs using SolidWorks and collaborate with design, sourcing, and manufacturing teams for feasibility and efficiency. The role emphasizes prototyping, testing, and iterative cycles to optimize cost, durability, and sustainability while ensuring compliance with standards such as BIFMA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Product Engineering / Design Engineering / Product Development Engineering, ideally in an NPD-focused environment.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred).
• Deep understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
• Experience with furniture design or wood manufacturing is a strong plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the engineering side of new product development (NPD) projects from ideation to launch
• Translate concepts into detailed engineering designs using SolidWorks and similar tools
• Partner cross-functionally with design, sourcing, and in-house and external manufacturing teams to ensure feasibility and efficiency
• Drive prototyping, testing, and iteration cycles (fail fast, learn faster)
• Optimize products for cost, durability, manufacturability, and sustainability
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards (including BIFMA)
• Troubleshoot production challenges and continuously improve existing products
