Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is hiring a Product Engineer I to lead new product development and improve performance of window/door products in North America. You will design, prototype, certify, and launch products while ensuring compliance with industry standards and coordinating with engineering, sales, and service teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
• 2 plus years of relevant engineering work preferred.
• Experience in new product development preferred.
• Must demonstrate ability to problem solve, work in teams, and complete projects.
• Experience in fenestration and/or construction will be given priority consideration.
• Strong communication with cross functional teams including engineering, sales, service, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software is expected.

Responsibilities

• Designs, prototypes, certifies, and launches new products.
• Analyzes current products to ensure specifications are maintained and current.
• Reviews, analyzes, and determines applicability and feasibility of newly proposed products and deigns.
• Monitors products to ensure compliance with industry certification program standards (AAMA, WDMA, NAMI, CSA, NFRC, and IGMA).
• Creates and reviews detailed drawings, schematics, prototypes, and data rich reports for coordination with other business teams.
• Manages Engineering Change Orders and Non-Standard Product Requests
• Embraces the role of Product Champion and liaises as the technical lead for all projects related to their assigned product lines.
• Visits manufacturing facilities to assist in new product launches, production support, internal/external audits.
• Participates in kaizen and voice-of-customer exercises.
• Visits construction sites to assist in customer service, field testing, and service department support.
