Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands, based in the U.S., seeks a Product Engineer I to lead innovations in window and door products. The role emphasizes new product development, performance improvements, and cost-saving initiatives across product lines.

Responsibilities include design, prototyping, testing, and coordinating with engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams. Requires engineering degree and 2+ years of relevant experience; travel up to 15% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience in new product development preferred.
• Fenestration or construction experience preferred.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes related to building products.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills.
• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Proactive about identifying building code changes and trends.
• Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling; ERP/MRP familiarity.
• Experience with hand and machine tools.

Responsibilities

• Designs, prototypes, certifies, and launches new products.
• Analyzes current products to ensure specs are current.
• Evaluates new product proposals for feasibility and applicability.
• Monitors compliance with industry certification programs (AAMA, WDMA, NAMI, CSA, NFRC, IGMA).
• Creates detailed drawings, schematics, prototypes, and data reports for coordination.
• Manages Engineering Change Orders and Non-Standard Product Requests.
• Acts as Product Champion and technical lead for assigned product lines.
• Visits manufacturing facilities for launches and audits; supports production.
• Participates in kaizen and voice-of-customer activities.
• Supports field testing and customer service at construction sites; occasional homeowner contact.
