Job summary

Pelican Products, Inc. in Torrance, CA is hiring a Project Engineer I to bring new Pelican products from concept to production.

You’ll manage development projects, evaluate designs, coordinate cross-functional teams, support testing, and collaborate with vendors to launch on time and within budget. This hands-on role requires 3–5 years in product design and project management, proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), and the ability to travel to vendors as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3-5 years in product design and project management.
• Experience from design through manufacturing.
• Proficient with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design Pelican cases and other products from initial concept through manufacturing and production implementation.
• Manage multiple new product development, product line extension, and product improvement projects simultaneously.
• Coordinate cross-functional project activities to help ensure new products are released to production on time and within budget.
• Develop product concepts and engineering solutions using mechanical design principles and 3D CAD modeling.
• Work with cross-functional partners throughout product development, production implementation, and post-launch support.
• Develop appropriate test plans and test methods to evaluate product design, performance, and quality.
• Analyze testing results and partner with appropriate teams to resolve quality and engineering issues.
• Identify and recommend product or process improvements that can reduce cost, improve quality, and maximize production efficiency.
• Support the transition of new designs from engineering into manufacturing.
• Serve as an engineering liaison with vendors and customers on technical and project-related matters.
• Travel to suppliers and vendors as needed to discuss designs, resolve technical issues, and support project requirements.
• Support Pelican’s commitment to Quality, Safety, and continuous improvement throughout the product development process.
