Job summary

US Tool Group is seeking a Product Engineer in Farmington, MO to improve manufacturing processes and develop tooling drawings. You will work with manufacturing teams to define how parts are made, standardize blueprints, and drive opportunities to streamline operations while maintaining close communication with customers.

The role requires an engineering-focused background, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD/SolidWorks), and the ability to analyze tolerances and tool performance.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent work experience.
• Familiar with geometric tolerancing, machine capability and statistics.
• Experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and able to manage projects.

Responsibilities

• Work with manufacturing departments to define and improve processes.
• Develop operations sheets to define how parts will be manufactured.
• Standardize processes and blueprints where possible.
• Initiate and complete opportunities to streamline operations.
• Work directly with customers to understand their needs.
• Assist Customer Service to ensure understanding of customer needs and USTG processes.
• Communicate customer needs to manufacturing departments.
• Develop cutting tool knowledge and relate it to tool geometry.
• Create drawings for cutting tools and manufactured items.
• Evaluate tools as needed.
• Use machine capability to determine appropriate tolerancing.
• Quoting for manufacturing of new tools and reconditioning of customer-owned tools.

A typical day may look like this:

• Work with manufacturing departments to define and improve processes used.
• Develop operations sheets to define how parts will be manufactured.
• Standardize processes and blueprints where possible.
• Initiate and complete opportunities to streamline operations.
• Work directly with customers to insure understanding of their needs.
• Assist Customer Service to insure understanding of customer needs and USTG processes
• Effectively communicate customer needs to the manufacturing departments.
• Develop exceptional cutting tool knowledge.
• Use cutting tool knowledge to understand performance issues related to cutting tool geometry.
• Create cutting tool and manufactured item drawings as needed.
• Assist in evaluating tools as needed.
• Using understanding of machine capabilities to determine appropriate tolerancing.
• Quoting Manufacturing of new tools and reconditioning of customer owned tools
