Job summary

Arhaus is seeking a Product Development leader to oversee the PD department, guiding pattern making, design, and upholstery for new and existing furniture. You will collaborate with plant leadership to ensure high quality standards and drive process improvements from concept to finish.

The role requires extensive experience in furniture upholstery, pattern making, and supervision, with strong communication and leadership abilities for a high-performing team.

Qualifications

  • 10 years' furniture upholstery and pattern making experience.
  • 5 years' supervision experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage pattern making, frame drawing, frame design, and upholstering for new products.
  • Provide collaborative input on new and existing furniture pieces.
  • Ensure samples and existing furniture pieces meet quality and style standards.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in the PD area.
  • Record and approve time for PD employees by deadlines.
  • Assess product cost while seeking cost reductions.
  • Move samples and new products through the process from concept to finish.
  • Ensure current product patterns are correct and fix design issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.

POSITION DETAILS
JOB PURPOSE

Oversee the Product Development department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the department parts such as pattern making, frame drawing, frame design, frame build for new products, upholstering of new products
  • Providing collaborative input on new and existing furniture pieces.
  • Working with Plant leadership to ensure all samples and existing furniture pieces meet quality, style, and requirements of the highest quality.
  • Recommends and implements improvements need in the PD area.
  • Correctly records, corrects and approves the PD area employees' time by the required deadlines.
  • Assess product cost while looking for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Works to move samples and new products thru the process from concept to finish.
  • Ensures current product patterns are correct and if not, corrects any design issues immediately.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

10 Years' experience in furniture upholstery, pattern making and general furniture upholstery experience.
5 years' experience in supervision.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Previous experience in PD Management is preferred.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree or 3+ years related experience.

  • Must be able to sit/stand/walk for a minimum of 8 hours a day.
  • Must be able to work Weekends and Overtime.

  • Must be able to wear required PPE of Safety Glasses and close-toe/close-heel shoes when required.
