Job summary

Arhaus is seeking a seasoned Product Development leader to oversee the PD department and ensure excellence in pattern making, design, and upholstery for new and existing furniture lines.

The role requires deep experience in upholstery and supervision, with a focus on quality, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery across the product life cycle. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • 10 years' experience in furniture upholstery, pattern making and general furniture upholstery experience.
  • 5 years' experience in supervision.
  • Bachelor's degree or 3+ years related experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Product Development department and manage key PD functions.
  • Provide collaborative input on new and existing furniture pieces.
  • Work with Plant leadership to ensure samples and products meet quality and style standards.
  • Record, correct, and approve PD area employee time by deadlines.
  • Assess product cost and seek cost reductions.
  • Move samples and new products from concept to finish.
  • Address design issues in current product patterns promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.

POSITION DETAILS
JOB PURPOSE

Oversee the Product Development department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the department parts such as pattern making, frame drawing, frame design, frame build for new products, upholstering of new products
  • Providing collaborative input on new and existing furniture pieces.
  • Working with Plant leadership to ensure all samples and existing furniture pieces meet quality, style, and requirements of the highest quality.
  • Recommends and implements improvements need in the PD area.
  • Correctly records, corrects and approves the PD area employees' time by the required deadlines.
  • Assess product cost while looking for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Works to move samples and new products thru the process from concept to finish.
  • Ensures current product patterns are correct and if not, corrects any design issues immediately.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

10 Years' experience in furniture upholstery, pattern making and general furniture upholstery experience.
5 years' experience in supervision.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Previous experience in PD Management is preferred.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree or 3+ years related experience.

  • Must be able to wear required PPE of Safety Glasses and close-toe/close-heel shoes when required.
