Job summary

Justrite Safety Group is seeking a Product Development Engineer to lead the rapid translation of concepts into manufacturable products. You’ll integrate electrical, controls and mechanical disciplines, work with external partners, and build prototype capabilities to accelerate development.

You will collaborate across engineering, operations and supply chains to ensure designs are manufacturable, testable and commercially viable, with a focus on safety and reliability for industrial applications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in product development, electrical engineering, controls, automation, mechatronics, systems integration or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology or related discipline preferred.
• Experience with sensors, controls, automation, connected devices, low‑voltage electronics, wireless tech, embedded systems or industrial equipment valued.
• Have personally built, integrated or debugged physical products or systems.
• Experience moving products from prototype toward manufacturable and supportable solutions.
• Comfort working across electrical and mechanical boundaries and learning unfamiliar technologies quickly.
• Collaborating with external engineering resources, suppliers, prototype shops or contract manufacturers.
• Ability to identify, qualify and select outside technical partners; understand cost, speed, reliability impact.

Responsibilities

• Turn concepts into working products by translating requirements into technical approaches.
• Own the technical integration of products, including externally developed components.
• Build the external technical network by selecting engineering and manufacturing partners.
• Design for manufacturing and work with Operations on production readiness and BOM decisions.
• Test, troubleshoot and iterate with practical technical tests; document findings and root causes.
• Build and define the internal prototype capability to enable rapid development and learning.
