Job summary

Whatnot is seeking a Product Designer for the Payments team to craft seamless, trustworthy money experiences at scale. You’ll shape checkout, payouts, wallet, and incentives within live commerce, partnering with PMs, engineers, data scientists, and finance compliance teams.

You will design one-tap and multi-step flows, seller-facing payout experiences, and recovery paths for failed payments, with a focus on speed, clarity, and trust for buyers and sellers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Product Design with shipped work.
• Strong interaction and systems thinking to untangle complex flows.
• Expertise in design and prototyping tools (Figma, Protopie, Framer, etc.).
• Deep understanding of user experience design principles including research, Wireframing, prototyping, usability testing.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design payment and value experiences across checkout, payouts, wallet, refunds, credits, coupons, gift cards, and balance products on web and mobile.
• Translate payment infrastructure and compliance requirements into intuitive product experiences.
• Design happy paths and recovery flows: failed payments, pending states, method switching, seller visibility.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and polished product experiences for high-stakes money movement problems.
• Unify fragmented payment experiences across live, marketplace, tips, offers and other surfaces.
• Use data and research to improve conversion and reduce payment friction.
• Contribute to the design system with accessibility and scalable global patterns.
• Design for live shopping constraints where speed and trust matter across auctions and fast moments.
