Job summary

openDEVS is seeking a Product Designer with strong design systems experience to shape an AI-ready design platform. The role spans design and engineering, including Figma, code, documentation and component logic.

You will define health metrics for the design system, translate decisions into actionable guidance, align design, docs and code, and prototype interactions to validate decisions in real product contexts.

Job description

Shape an AI-ready design system at the intersection of product design and engineering.

We are looking for a Product Designer with strong Design Systems experience and technical fluency. While this is primarily a design role, it operates at the intersection of design and engineering, with work spanning Figma, code, documentation and component logic.

A key focus is evolving the design system for AI and agentic use. This includes clear component contracts, meaningful token structures, machine-readable documentation and guidance that can be reliably understood by designers, engineers and AI agents.

YOUR MISSION:

• Define and track design system health metrics, including adoption, reuse, design-code alignment and drift, and use these insights to prioritize improvements
• Translate design system decisions into clear guidance for designers, engineers and AI agents
• Identify and close gaps between Figma, documentation and code, treating all three as connected parts of the same source of truth
• Validate components and patterns in real product contexts to identify implementation issues or incorrect usage
• Prototype interactions in code where needed to test decisions and uncover edge cases
• Use AI to support design system workflows, including audits, documentation, validation and reducing manual maintenance
• Enable Product teams with agent-ready design systems to support automated workflows and processes

YOUR TECHNICAL EXPERTISE:

• Strong experience with design systems across components, patterns, documentation and governance
• Practical knowledge of HTML, CSS, responsive behaviour, component constraints and front-end implementation concepts
• Ability to prototype realistic interactions and edge cases without operating as a full-time engineer
• Confidence reviewing design-code alignment and identifying where implementation differs from design system intent
• Working understanding of how AI agents consume structured documentation and tokens
• Comfort defining and reporting on metrics and using data to shape priorities
