One North is seeking a Principal Product Designer, Design Systems / Senior Product Designer, Design Systems to lead the evolution of enterprise design systems and empower teams across products. This role demands deep UX/UI expertise, advanced Figma mastery, and a passion for AI-powered design solutions.

The candidate will collaborate with client teams, advise on diagnostic analyses, and contribute to scalable design system documentation and governance.

Qualifications

Job description

One North is hiring a Principal Product Designer, Design Systems / Senior Product Designer, Design Systems. The role requires deep UX/UI expertise for design systems and advanced mastery of Figma. The designer will integrate with client teams, advise clients using diagnostic analyses, support the development and evolution of client design systems, and participate in creating intelligent or AI-powered design systems. The position may be based in the United States or Canada.

What you'll do
  • Lead the creation and evolution of enterprise-level design systems that scale across multiple products and platforms, including UI libraries, documentation, governance patterns and component libraries.
  • Create and maintain advanced Figma libraries using best practices for Auto Layout, variables, interactive components and design tokens.
  • Leverage existing design systems to accelerate product design workflows while identifying gaps and creating specialized libraries as needed.
  • Ensure Figma workspaces, files and libraries are optimized, organized and aligned with system architecture and brand standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure design–code consistency and support implementation through documentation and collaboration.
  • Audit and refactor components to improve usability, accessibility, performance and consistency across platforms.
  • Prototype and test new patterns or components before integrating them into the broader system.
  • Create clear, scalable documentation and onboarding materials to drive system adoption by teams.

  • Expert understanding of core design principles, design systems, UX foundations and digital product experiences.
  • Expert mastery of Figma and its advanced features (such as Auto Layout, Variables, Dev Mode, advanced prototyping) and curiosity about its AI features (Make, MCP Server).
  • Experience and knowledge related to design-systems tools such as Zeroheight, Knapsack, Tokens Studio and Gradial.
  • Interest in and explorations of integrating AI into product and design-systems workflows.
  • Understanding of design systems and their interconnectivity with engineering teams.
  • Ability to adapt designs to various screen formats and form factors.
  • Expertise in design implications related to WCAG accessibility requirements.
  • Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment with design, client services, strategy and technology teams.
