Job summary

Schaeffler Transmission Systems, LLC is seeking a mechanical design engineer to contribute to the development of advanced propulsion components. You will work on architecture-driven design, subsystem breakdowns, and rigorous specification development to ensure robust and measurable performance.

The role requires a solid engineering foundation, knowledge of powertrain architectures, and the ability to model electric/mechatronic systems. Hybrid work and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
• 1 year of engineering experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of engineering & physics principles.
• Understanding of vehicle powertrain architectures and components.
• Basic understanding of electric machines, hydraulics and heat transfer.
• Experience with modelling/simulation of electric/mechatronic systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, plus strong presentation skills.
• Customer-focused with ability to collaborate cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical design engineering activities to develop competitive products.
• Develop the mechanical system structure from architecture and risk analysis considerations.
• Break down structures into subsystems and components and produce detailed specifications.
• Assess reuse possibilities of subsystems and components.
• Develop alternative structures and select the best option.
• Maintain traceability with mechanical architecture and manage documentation under configuration control.
