Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a product data scientist to drive value and sustainable growth for young people, families, and learners. You’ll shape strategy across under-18 audiences, and identify promising use cases to build a clear product plan.

You’ll measure activation, learning progress, and durable retention, run experiments, and turn findings into product decisions. You’ll partner with Chat Product, Growth, Foundations, SafeSys, and engineering to connect discovery to adoption.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL and Python skills with statistical judgment and experience in experiments and causal inference.
• Ability to define product value and validate proxies, distinguishing short-term movement from lasting improvement.
• Clear communication and strong product judgment across functions without formal authority.

Responsibilities

• Shape strategy and prioritize opportunities across audiences, use cases, and product experiences.
• Define what value and success mean with an audience-specific measurement framework.
• Understand users and growth drivers by analyzing journeys, funnels, and cohorts.
• Measure what changes actually cause by designing experiments and holdouts, accounting for seasonality and segments.
• Turn findings into product decisions from hypotheses to launch and iteration, explaining impact and tradeoffs.
• Build reliable measurement with instrumentation, data quality, and reusable analyses and dashboards.
• Create alignment across teams by presenting a coherent view of audience value and priorities across roadmaps.
