AppFolio is seeking a Corporate Counsel, Product to sit at the intersection of innovation and integrity, guiding product development and engineering teams from concept through launch. You will translate U.S.

regulatory requirements into clear product requirements, build scalable playbooks, negotiate high-stakes agreements, and provide practical legal guidance to accelerate velocity while maintaining compliance.

Qualifications

• Experienced product lawyer with understanding of product lifecycle and software
• Comfort with ambiguity and self-direction in unresolved issues
• Ability to provide practical, clear legal guidance under tight deadlines
• Collaborative, cross-functional communicaton with product and engineering teams

Responsibilities

• Act as key legal advisor to Product and Engineering from ideation to launch and beyond
• Stay current on U.S. laws and translate them into actionable product requirements
• Identify legal/regulatory hurdles early and propose practical solutions to maintain momentum
• Develop and maintain internal playbooks, product terms, and scalable processes
• Collaborate with Procurement and Partnerships to negotiate high-stakes agreements
• Maintain awareness of AppFolio’s technical stack to advise on data flows and integrations
