Job summary

AppFolio is seeking a Corporate Counsel, Product to partner with our Product and Engineering teams across the development lifecycle. You will translate regulatory requirements into actionable product guidance to enable faster, compliant product velocity.

You will blend legal rigor with practical business judgment, shaping policies, terms, and playbooks that support our innovative real estate technology while operating in a heavily regulated U.S. environment.

Qualifications

• JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school and an active license in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• 5+ years of sophisticated legal experience focusing on product counseling in a U.S. technology or SaaS environment.
• Significant experience in heavily regulated U.S. industries (e.g., FinTech, tenant screening, B2C).
• Ability to adjust your role to shifting Legal priorities and rapidly adapt to evolving needs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a legal partner to Product and Engineering from ideation through launch and beyond.
• Stay current with U.S. laws and translate complex regulations into actionable product requirements.
• Develop internal playbooks, product terms, and scalable processes for the Legal team.
• Collaborate with Procurement and Partnerships to negotiate high-stakes agreements and integrations.
• Understand AppFolio’s technical stack to advise on data flows and API integrations.
