Job summary

Remote is seeking a Managing Counsel, Product to guide legal strategy for payroll and AI features across 90+ jurisdictions. You will partner with Payroll, Product, Engineering, Privacy and Security to translate complex regulatory rules into actionable product requirements while balancing compliance with business needs.

The team is global, hiring remotely, with a focus on pragmatic legal solutions, risk management, and scalable governance for AI and payroll products.

Qualifications

• Qualified Lawyer: Seasoned lawyer with extensive experience on Product counseling (jurisdiction agnostic; multiple bars a plus)
• Product Counsel Experience in technology, with proven expertise in HR tech (Payroll/PEO/EOR) and track record advising at scale across multiple jurisdictions.
• Deep expertise in AI frameworks (EU AI Act, UK approach, U.S. state/federal developments, Canada AIDA) and their interplay with data protection, employment law, and payroll compliance across jurisdictions

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on payroll and AI product counseling end‑to‑end, including payroll launch readiness assessments and risk controls.
• Negotiate product T&Cs and AI‑specific clauses for payroll features.
• Monitor AI/tech regulations and translate into concrete actions for product/engineering teams.
• Manage external counsel on multi‑jurisdictional issues; drive practical outcomes.
• Deliver enablement trainings or office hours.
• Partner with Privacy & Security on DPIAs/TIAs and vendor diligence.
