Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market in San Diego, CA is seeking an Assistant Produce Manager to lead one of the store’s busiest teams, drive department productivity, and ensure freshness and quality of produce while delivering exceptional customer service.

You will support hiring, training, and coaching staff, manage inventory and ordering, uphold safety standards, and help create a welcoming, healthy shopping experience in a fast-paced grocery environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with basic math/weights knowledge.
• Reliable with a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Outgoing, friendly demeanor with strong customer interaction skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Perform general housekeeping and sanitation in the department.
• Adhere to safety, health, weights and measures regulations including FOOD HANDLERS permit.
• Able to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to operate a pallet jack to move pallets up to 20 feet.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Produce Manager in managing and merchandising the department for productivity and profit.
• Oversee ordering, inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Produce team.
• Coordinate merchandising and sales through planning, direction, and teamwork.
• Maintain freshness standards from receiving through display, pricing, signage, and rotation.
• Help lead a team to deliver high-quality products and excellent customer service.
• Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Produce team.
• Unload deliveries and operate/maintain produce equipment.
• Ensure execution of safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment and contribute to a positive work culture.
