Sprouts Farmers Market in Bakersfield, CA is seeking an Assistant Produce Manager to help customers make healthy choices and lead one of the busiest store teams. You will support the Produce Manager with scheduling, training, and daily operations to ensure fresh, high-quality produce.

The role emphasizes outstanding customer service, supervising the Produce team, and maintaining department standards in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with basic math, weights and measures.
• Dependable with the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Outgoing and friendly behavior with customers; positive attitude.
• Good communication skills and the ability to take direction in a team.
• General housekeeping and sanitation of the department.
• Adhere to safety, health, Weights and Measures and obtain a Food Handlers permit.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb and lift up to 50 lbs with or without help.
• Ability to use a pallet jack; move pallets up to 20 ft with force.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Produce Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit.
• Responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Produce team.
• Coordinate merchandising and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
• Maintain freshness standards through proper receiving, processing, packaging, pricing, signage, display and rotation.
• Lead a team to deliver quality product, service, and customer experience.
• Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Produce team.
• Unload and sort deliveries, operate and maintain produce equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and sanitation guidelines.
