Job summary

Whole Foods Market in Somerville, MA, is seeking a Produce Team Member to support receiving and preparing product, maintaining the Produce floor and displays, and assisting customers and Team Members in line with WFM standards.

The role involves stocking shelves, assisting with seasonal items, preventing spoilage, and performing required paperwork. It requires the ability to lift 50 pounds, stand 6–8 hours, and a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• No prior retail experience required.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in department.
• Ability to learn and understand growing processes that differentiate conventional from organic produce.

Responsibilities

• Keeps cases and shelves clean and well stocked with front-facing displays.
• Assists Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items.
• Monitors spoilage and communicates waste to buyers, Team Leaders, and shift supervisor.
• Completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
• Assists with periodic inventory checks.
• Arrives on time, groomed, and ready to work; participates in trainings and meetings.
• Delivers excellent customer service and uses suggestive selling techniques; answers phones and pages promptly.
• Maximizes sales through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising of product.
• Follows procedures including health, sanitation, and safe work practices; maintains clean, sanitary environment.
• Performs opening, mid, and closing duties and ensures pricing accuracy.
• Reports safety hazards and violations immediately.
• Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
