Job summary

Performance Foodservice is seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Clerk in Hickory, NC to check produce quality and monitor daily stock levels, ensuring timely flagging of spoiled items.

You will remove short-dated items, break down cases, maintain accurate counts, and cooperate with customers, vendors, and co-workers to keep operations efficient and compliant.

Experience in inventory control and familiarity with perishable goods are beneficial; forklift certification is preferred, but not required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• 6–12 months Inventory Control or related administrative experience.
• Produce experience is preferred.
• 1–2 years procurement, warehouse and/or administrative experience in the foodservice industry.
• OSHA Forklift Operator certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned duties efficiently to reduce spoilage and contribute to profit margins.
• Communicate with customers and vendors in a friendly, timely, and professional manner.
• Determine quality of products returned by customers; work with Returns Clerk on returned produce quality.
• Check quality of produce and ensure proper rotation and quality daily.
• Break and repack full cases to smaller quantities to reduce spoilage and lost inventory.
• Check dating on designated products daily; remove short-dated or bad product from inventory.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and perform other related duties as assigned.
