PRODUCE/LEAD CLERK (Finance)

Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Produce department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Produce operations. Minimum Requirements:
- 18 years of age
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Current food handler's permit once employed

- Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
- Train and develop associates on performance of their job, including inventory, stocking, CAO, Key Retailing, and other aspects.
- Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions and recommending products within the department and store.
- Offer product samples and inform customers of produce specials.
- Review and inspect products for quality and freshness; take appropriate action on any issues.
- Utilize Fresh Insights to ensure proper sell-through and shrink reduction.
- Recommend produce items to customers to meet their needs.
- Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
- Work in refrigerated areas for hours at a time and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Implement merchandising promotional plans for the department.
- Keep all department associates updated on present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Monitor and control departmental expenses.
- Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
- Ensure price integrity, including shelf tags and promotional signs.
- Assist in the inventory process and ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining temperature logs.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed.
- Report safety risks, accidents, customer or employee incidents, and illegal activities such as theft or fraud.
