Job Description

Create outstanding customer experiences through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe, clean, and fresh environment that encourages our customers to return. Achieve sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor and control all quality assurance standards. Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Produce department. Support the day-to-day functions of Produce operations. Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, safety and food safety regulations, and company guidelines.
  • Promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
  • Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets through collaboration and teamwork.
  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
  • Help train and develop associates on job performance, including inventory, stocking, CAO, Key Retailing, and other aspects.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and recommending products within the department and store.
  • Offer product samples and inform customers of produce specials.
  • Review and inspect products for quality and freshness, taking appropriate action as needed.
  • Utilize Fresh Insights to ensure proper sell-through and reduce shrinkage.
  • Recommend produce items to customers to meet their needs.
  • Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
  • Work in refrigerated areas for hours and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Implement merchandising promotional plans and keep all associates informed of current ads.
  • Monitor and control expenses, inventory, and stock conditions.
  • Ensure accurate pricing, shelf tags, and promotional signs.
  • Assist in inventory processes and maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers.
  • Reinforce safety programs, comply with safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Practice preventive maintenance and notify management of equipment issues.
  • Report safety risks, accidents, and illegal activities.
  • Perform essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications

Minimum:

  • 18 years of age
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, subtraction)
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Current food handler's permit upon employment
