Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Produce department. Support the day-to-day functions of Produce operations. Responsibilities
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, safety and food safety regulations, and company guidelines.
- Promote trust and respect among associates.
- Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
- Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets through collaboration and teamwork.
- Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
- Help train and develop associates on job performance, including inventory, stocking, CAO, Key Retailing, and other aspects.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and recommending products within the department and store.
- Offer product samples and inform customers of produce specials.
- Review and inspect products for quality and freshness, taking appropriate action as needed.
- Utilize Fresh Insights to ensure proper sell-through and reduce shrinkage.
- Recommend produce items to customers to meet their needs.
- Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
- Work in refrigerated areas for hours and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Implement merchandising promotional plans and keep all associates informed of current ads.
- Monitor and control expenses, inventory, and stock conditions.
- Ensure accurate pricing, shelf tags, and promotional signs.
- Assist in inventory processes and maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers.
- Reinforce safety programs, comply with safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions or incidents.
- Practice preventive maintenance and notify management of equipment issues.
- Report safety risks, accidents, and illegal activities.
- Perform essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- 18 years of age
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, subtraction)
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Current food handler's permit upon employment
