Job summary

Meijer is seeking a Produce Department leader who plans, directs, and supervises daily operations. You will mentor staff, promote customer service excellence, and drive sales while maintaining store standards.

The role includes staffing, coaching, and ensuring training compliance to deliver fast, friendly service. You will work to optimize operations during prime hours, coordinate with other store areas, and uphold safety and loss-prevention measures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli) helpful.
• Strong communication for clear direction.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and address root causes.
• Ability to multitask and analyze financial data to drive decisions.
• Experience mentoring team members and SDITs/hourly staff.
• Must complete required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise Produce Department operations.
• Mentor and coach team members to meet service and sales goals.
• Staffing and hiring to meet department needs.
• Promote career development and succession planning.
• Manage disciplinary actions and staffing decisions as needed.
• Oversee P&L, sales targets, and shrink control.
• Maintain safety and training standards across the department.
• Communicate Meijer standards and initiatives in team meetings.
