Core Responsibilities

• Ensure customer satisfaction by properly preparing, trimming, washing, wrapping, and displaying various fresh and prepared produce items while strictly adhering to Department of Health sanitation guidelines and Country of Origin Labeling (C.O.O.L.) regulations.
• Preparation & Merchandising: Prepare fresh produce for sale by trimming, washing, wrapping, pricing, and labeling items. Transport produce to the sales floor and build neat, appealing displays. Maintain display quality throughout the shift by arranging, trimming, watering, rotating, and refilling items.
• Receiving & Inventory Support: Receive freight, verify delivered merchandise against invoices, reject non-standard items, and write credit claims for shortages or damages as needed. Assemble special orders, plan upcoming promotional displays, assist with inventory, order supplies, and visit other work sites as required.
• Department & Facility Maintenance: Keep sales floor aisles, prep rooms, and walk-in chill boxes clean, organized, and safe. Perform hourly sweep log duties, clean display cases and mirrors, sweep and mop floors, pick up floor debris, and bale cardboard rubbish.
• Customer & Team Engagement: Promptly, courteously, and efficiently greet, assist, and thank all shoppers with local hospitality. Create shelf talkers/signs, report price errors to the POS department, answer phone calls, and respond to PA pages.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

• Environment: Frequently work indoors in cold, wet, and high-volume customer environments to wash products and prep rooms. Occasionally work in extreme cold inside walk-in chillers, or outdoors in heat, humidity, rain, volcanic haze (vog), or near equipment exhaust fumes to receive freight and discard rubbish.
• Physical Effort: Continuously stand throughout the shift. Frequently walk, bend, reach, use fine motor skills to test produce firmness, and rely on color vision to build eye-appealing displays and assess freshness. Frequently use knives to trim produce. Pushing/pulling up to 300 lbs and lifting/carrying up to 60 lbs using produce carts or stock wagons. Seldom sit to operate forklifts, crouch/bend to clean drains, push/pull up to 1,200 lbs with a pallet jack, or climb ladders.
• Equipment Use: Frequently use stock wagons, knives, and price guns. Line-use wrapping/pricing machines, cardboard balers, brooms, mops, telephone systems, forklifts, and pallet jacks. Seldom use company delivery vans.
• Safety: Continuously wear a back support belt while performing job duties.

Qualifications: What You Bring

Age Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age to work in a walk-in chill box or freezer and use a case cutter or knife.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to clean, maintain, or operate a trash baler, freight elevator, or power-driven equipment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid Driver's License and company certification to operate a forklift or drive company vehicles.

Skills & Knowledge

Basic math skills for taking inventory and ordering supplies. Multi-tasking skills to accomplish work on time and prioritize tasks under minimal supervision. Clear oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with customers, vendors, and management.

Availability

General work availability 7 days a week and holidays, typically between 4:30 AM and 8:00 PM.
