About KTA Super Stores

We owe our century of existence entirely to the people of Hawai‘i Island. From our modest beginnings in a 500-square-foot store in 1916, KTA Super Stores and our associates remain deeply rooted in a single, quiet philosophy: to humbly serve the community that sustains us.

Core Responsibilities
  • Prescription Processing & Order Filling: Receive prescriptions and medical information, type and bill orders using computer systems, retrieve proper drugs from inventory shelves, and count, package, and label prescriptions accurately using counting trays, spatulas, or automated pill-counting technology ("robots").
  • Checkout & Customer Payment Handling: Accurately operate POS cash registers/computers to charge patients, collect payments, process insurance claims, and troubleshoot billing issues.
  • Inventory Control & Maintenance: Price, rotate, and stock merchandise in designated pharmacy and sales floor locations. Check for outdated items, process vendor returns, check in supplies/freight, maintain automated counting equipment, and perform regular inventory audits.
  • Customer & Healthcare Team Engagement: Promptly, courteously, and efficiently greet, assist, and thank all patients with local hospitality. Answer phone calls, respond to PA pages, communicate with insurance representatives and health care providers, and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Environment: Frequently work indoors in a clean, well-lit, air-conditioned pharmacy environment. Occasionally work in store warehouse spaces that may be dusty or noisy when retrieving supplies. Seldom travel to assist at other store locations.
  • Physical Effort: Continuously stand and walk throughout the shift. Continuously use hands and fine finger dexterity to open/close medication stock vials, type on computers, and handle small pills. Frequently reach, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, or climb step-stools/ladders. Seldom lift and carry up to 50 lbs when receiving freight or moving inventory.
  • Equipment Use: Frequently use computers, keyboards, POS registers, automated pill counters ("robots"), counting trays, spatulas, scanners, copiers, fax machines, telephones, and PA systems. Line-use box cutters, step-stools, stock wagons, and hand trucks.
  • Safety & Confidentiality: Strictly adhere to healthcare compliance protocols, privacy practices, patient confidentiality policies, and safety standards.
Benefits & Work Culture
  • Flexible work scheduling.
  • Comprehensive on-the-job training.
  • Health, dental, vision, paid time off, and retirement options for eligible associates.
