Job summary

Joe V's Smart Shop, a division of H-E-B, seeks an Exempt Department Manager to lead operations across departments with emphasis in your specialty. Drive staffing, scheduling, and performance, while shaping product and department strategies to deliver strong customer service and brand standards.

You will analyze financials, mentor teammates, and partner with store leadership to ensure safety, quality, and timely execution in a fast-paced community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Operational/ Retail management experience.
• Experience in ordering, inventory maintenance, and shrink control.
• Strong leadership and people-management abilities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee department operations across multiple areas with emphasis in your expertise (e.g., produce, market, front end).
• Lead staffing, scheduling, and performance development; implement product and department strategies.
• Review financial and performance reports; identify opportunities and issues; conduct audits and store/dept walks.
• Collaborate with store leadership to ensure coordination of total store plans and customer service excellence.
• Maintain safety, sanitation, and inventory controls; manage end-to-end flow of goods and front-end operations.
