Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is seeking a Purchaser III to support the Procurement Division and its mission of purchasing the right quality, in the right quantity, at the right time and price for Texans. The role offers onsite work across TxDOT locations including Austin, with responsibilities in research, evaluation, requisitions, and supplier coordination.

Applicants need 1 year of purchasing experience and a valid driver’s license; CTCD certification is required or must be

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate is detailed oriented, fast paced, an effective communicator and focused on customer service.
• 1 year experience in purchasing.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Certified Texas Contract Developer (CTCD) OR must obtain the CTCD certification within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical purchasing functions for the Department, including research, study and evaluation of commodities, supplies and services.
• Advises district and division personnel on purchasing procedures and quality of goods and services.
• Develops specifications and Statements of Work (SOW) and evaluates requirements with users.
• Coordinates reports, prepares requisitions for term contracts and open market purchases.
• Represents the Department at meetings and supports bid reviews and supplier communications.
