Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services is seeking a Purchaser III in Austin to perform IT goods and services procurement in compliance with state laws and agency policies. The role emphasizes cost-effective purchasing, bid analysis, and accurate record-keeping within CAPPS and SCOR systems.

Responsibilities include reviewing requisitions, ensuring timely procurement actions, and collaborating across departments to resolve PO issues. Telework may be available per policy and needs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• CTCD certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• A minimum of 6 months of purchasing, administrative support or customer service or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule.
• Reviews requisitions and enters information in procurement system to monitor progress and deadlines.
• Assists with IT goods and services procurements using applicable laws, rules, and policies.
• Maintains timely compliance by uploading procurement files and responding to reviews.
• Identifies bidders, evaluates information, and tabulates bids to determine best value.
• Uses system reports to monitor volume targets and maintain documentation.
• Collaborates with warehouse, accounting, and agency staff on PO issues and timelines.
• Delivers excellent customer service in line with Core Principles.
• Performs other duties, including supporting disaster response and training.
